MN Lakes and Rivers is thrilled to partner with Broken Clock Brewing, Curiouso Coffee, Queermunity, Marcy Bikes, and local musicians Daisy Forester and Emma Jeanne for Tunes, Tunes & Loons — a lively, all-ages community bike ride across Minneapolis. The ride ends in celebration with live music, bike tune-ups, coffee, beer, and a spotlight on the inspiring local groups working for positive change in the City of Lakes.
As summer winds down, MN Lakes and Rivers is proud to celebrate the progress made to protect our urban lakes. With generous support from the Minneapolis Foundation, we launched and piloted the Minneapolis Lake Steward program — a peer-to-peer initiative designed to connect everyday residents to urban water protection, right from their own yards or apartments. This summer, student interns have been biking across the city, awarding Lake Steward signs to participants whose properties help protect water quality. These signs symbolize a growing social shift: a new norm for how we care for our shared waters.
Whether or not you live near a lake, Tunes, Tunes & Loons is a fun and engaging way to learn how you can get involved. Come find out how to become a Minneapolis Lake Steward and connect with amazing partners like Adopt a Drain, neighborhood associations, Bluethumb, and more!
Let’s celebrate the first class of Minneapolis Lake Stewards, and the collective action that’s helping protect our lakes for future generations.
