Starry stonewort is an invasive algae. It can be so dense that it can kill fish. Cleaning out boats can prevent the spread of starry stonewort to other lakes.
MLR’s Stop Starry Stonewort project, funded by the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, has installed 34 Clean, Drain, Dry, Dispose free-to-use boat cleaning stations and conducting awareness to monitor and prevent the spread of starry stonewort.
