Support the Lake Steward Program in this year’s Give to the Max Day!
As we enter the season of giving, MLR is excited to give back to the Lake Steward Program—and we invite you to join us in supporting this transformative initiative. Early giving is open now through November 21st, providing the perfect opportunity to show your support for a program that is making a tangible difference in restoring and preserving Minnesota’s shorelines.
First launched in 2021, the Lake Steward Program has achieved incredible growth in just three years, expanding statewide and reaching a major milestone of 15% support from member lake associations.
With 40 lake associations now carrying the Lake Steward banner, we’ve engaged hundreds of shoreline property owners, educating them on how thoughtful land management can protect their beloved waters for the long term.
In the coming year, we’re planning to grow even further, enhancing our communications and technology to make Lake Steward certification more accessible than ever. We’re grateful for the volunteer dedication of dozens of Lake Steward Shoreline Evaluators, who are working with neighbors, assessing shorelines with our Survey 123 tool, and offering personalized guidance on sustainable land management practices. Their inspiring commitment is the heart of this program, encouraging communities across Minnesota to take action for clean, healthy lakes.
To keep this momentum going, we’re setting new goals to adapt the program to both urban and rural communities. With climate change bringing warmer waters and more frequent flooding events, shoreline erosion and nutrient loading are increasingly urgent challenges. Restoring our shores not only protects water quality but also enhances fish and wildlife habitats, builds a growing base of Lake Stewards, and strengthens our commitment to preserving Minnesota’s lake heritage.
Help support this impactful mission—donate to Lake Steward today! Together, we can continue to change our shores for the better and protect these cherished waters for generations to come
